Blippar™ is a new and free smart phone application. It allows the user to enhance what they would ordinarily see, and so essentially provides a mobile “lens” to augment (virtual) reality.

Huh?
The application uses the phones in-built camera to detect objects and things. On recognition, relevant information or interactive entertainment is instantly provided on the screen of the phone.

How?
Smart phone users can download the application here. They then use their built-in camera to hover over anything with the Blippar™ 'b' on it - product package, poster, logo, press advert, building etc. An instant response (dictated by the product owner) will appear on the smart phone screen, which is detailed information or a web link, video, coupon, 3D product experience, augmented reality game etc

Benefit?
Companies can use this platform to engage customers, and extend their marketing message. Not only can more information be shared, but brands can create an identity – whilst appealing not only to their current market, but also the curiosity of their untapped market.
